Welcome to Lisa Coleman’s bird weekly photo challenge. This week’s prompt is birds with a G in the name.
The header photo is the greenfinch.
We had a visit from a greater spotted woodpecker the other day

This green winged macaw is showing off his beautiful, colourful plumage.

And lastly a goldfinch perching on the highest branch available.

I’ve seen plenty of pigeons and magpies in the garden this week, but I guess that they’re not celebrated so much… nor do I have any photographic evidence!

We get those too, but it’s nice something a bit different.

You make me so ashamed of my ignorance – I had no idea there were woodpeckers in Britain! I think I need to buy a book on ornithology. Please tell me macaws don’t speak with a British accent… 😉

In your defence, woodpeckers haven’t been common at all in my garden, so I was surprised to see it. As for macaws, he didn’t speak 😂
