Lens-Artist Weekly #PhotoChallenge #108 ~ Sanctuary #Nature #Photography #LensArtist

Lens Artist Weekly is guest hosted by Xenia Tran from Whippet Wisdom and Tranature, with the theme of sanctuary.

A sanctuary is a place of refuge, for people and animals. For me it means a place to feel comfortable, peaceful and safe. Especially appropriate at the moment.

Spending time in nature brings a sense of calm, healing and peacefulness.

Watching the birds and insects, listening to the sounds of nature

A favourite place to curl up and read

Being on a deserted beach with the sound of the ocean. All these things instill feelings of tranquility, renewal and peace.

#SundayStills ~ Beautiful Beaches around the UK #Nature #Photography #Coast

I’m delighted to be hosting Sunday Stills for Terry Webster Schrandt during August while she takes a blogging break.

This week’s theme is Beautiful Beaches and we have lots to choose from in the UK. I love spending time by the ocean. The beach heading the post is Bamburgh in Northumberland, overlooked by the impressive castle.

The photos above and below are images of Porthminster Beach at St Ives in Cornwall. We stayed there many times when we lived down south.

We also spent a lot of time at Carbis Bay which is just down the coast a little way from St Ives.

The beach at Rhos on Sea is much closer to home and great for building sand castles.

Lyme Regis on the Jurassic Coast has a beach of two halves—sand and pebbles.

On the pebble beach the ‘stone man’ as we used to call him, could often be seen balancing stones at incredible angles.

And the lovely stretch of Newborough Beach and sand dunes on Angelsey.

At low tide Llanddwyn Island is accessible on foot from Newborough. Llanddwyn translates to the Church of St Dwynwen. She is the Welsh patron saint of lovers and lived during the 5th century AD.  The legend goes that after a failed romance and to avoid an arranged marriage Dwynwen retreated to Llanddwyn and lived the life of a hermit.

#SundayStills ~ The Amazing #Sky #Nature #Photography

Welcome to the Sunday Stills feature created and hosted by Terri Webster Schrandt at Second Wind Leisure Perspectives

This week’s theme is SKY. It’s incredible how the sky changes, sometimes from one minute to the next.

This was an unusual cloud formation that I hadn’t seen before, reminding me of ripples in the sand as the tide recedes.

Colourful clouds followed by an angry looking sky

I love the clouds here. We were driving along a country lane and I had to stop and take a photo. Luckily there was a handy lay-by.

This is a fairly familiar sight in the skies above and around us.

Everyone’s eyes were turned skyward for this display by the Red Arrows

The rainclouds had blown over to give us this pretty rainbow.

#SundayStills ~ WaterWorld: The Beauty of Our Planet #Nature #Landscape #Scenery #Photography

Welcome to the Sunday Stills feature created and hosted by Terri Webster Schrandt

This week’s theme is WaterWorld, which I took literally and chose to show the beauty of water in our world. From the vast and mighty oceans…

to rivers winding their way through the countryside

to bodies of inland water, be they lakes or reservoirs

and waterfalls…

Waterfalls, river, lakes and ocean

And even a moat around a castle

This Morning’s Walk #Nature #Horses #Donkeys #Flowers #Photography

I decided on the circular route this morning, taking us down the path away from the coast

The hawthorn hedges were a picture, full of buds and flowers

The path leads us onto a quiet back road, up a hill and past a paddock with horses

#SundayStills ~ What Lifts Your Spirits? #Nature #Photography #Forest #Gardens

Welcome to the Sunday Stills feature created and hosted by Terri Webster Schrandt

Terri has chosen ‘Lifted Spirits’ for this week’s theme. Being in nature is guaranteed to lift my spirits. These photos are from a visit to Bodnant Gardens, a National Trust property in North Wales, a couple of years ago.

Pathway with stream, trees and flowers
Old trees with exposed roots
Waterfall surrounded by greenery
Dappled sunshine through the trees

The next photos are from a trip to Newborough Forest. Lots of paths through the trees lead eventually to the sand dunes and onto a wide expanse of beach.
