#SundayStills ~ The Amazing #Sky #Nature #Photography

Welcome to the Sunday Stills feature created and hosted by Terri Webster Schrandt at Second Wind Leisure Perspectives

This week’s theme is SKY. It’s incredible how the sky changes, sometimes from one minute to the next.

This was an unusual cloud formation that I hadn’t seen before, reminding me of ripples in the sand as the tide recedes.

Colourful clouds followed by an angry looking sky

I love the clouds here. We were driving along a country lane and I had to stop and take a photo. Luckily there was a handy lay-by.

This is a fairly familiar sight in the skies above and around us.

Everyone’s eyes were turned skyward for this display by the Red Arrows

The rainclouds had blown over to give us this pretty rainbow.

#SundayStills ~ What does Freedom mean to you? #Landscape #Nature #Pets #Wildlife

Welcome to the Sunday Stills feature created and hosted by Terri Webster Schrandt at Second Wind Leisure Perspectives

This week’s theme is Freedom.

At the moment, freedom to me would mean getting out and about and going wherever I please. Won’t be possible for a while.

Freedom of the skies

A herd of Kashmiri goats are free to roam on the Great Orme

During lockdown they took advantage of the lack of people in town and decided to pay several visits en masse.

Finn loves being free to run off lead, especially on the beach.

And I love being free to spend time in this place without a voice following me around saying ‘haven’t you got enough books!’

Barter Books is a fantasic second hand bookshop housed in what used to be a railway station, with many, many shelves of all kinds of books, real fires, a cafe and seating areas scattered around. I really hope they can keep trading.

#SundayStills ~ Beginning and End of the Day #Sunrise #Sunset #Nature #Photography

Welcome to the Sunday Stills feature created and hosted by Terri Webster Schrandt at Second Wind Leisure Perspectives

This week’s theme is Rise/Set

We stayed in an AirBNB a few years ago and this was the sight that greeted us in the morning. Sunrise over the North Sea…

Sunrise over the North Sea

A cloudy sunrise over the Herefordshire countryside…

Sunset over Llandudno Bay…

A couple of years ago we drove over to Llanddwyn Island on Anglesey to catch the sunset and it was spectacular…

Early morning dog walk with the sun coming up… Can you make out the lone fisherman on the shoreline in the second one?

Sunrise over the Little Orme

Sunrise over St Ives harbour

The rising moon was visible quite frequently during April and May with the beautiful weather we had…

This picture was also taken on an early morning dog walk, just as the moon was setting. Unfortunately I only had my phone and was too far away to get a good shot…

#SundayStills #Plantlife ~ Our Little Patch #Nature #Photography #Garden

Welcome to the Sunday Stills feature created and hosted by Terri Webster Schrandt

This week’s theme is plant life. I’m so grateful, especially now, to have some outdoor space. It’s not large by any stretch of the imagination but it’s a nice place to sit out when the weather allows. At the moment, as is often the case in Wales, it’s raining and very windy.

Nevertheless, the plants, most of them anyway, seem to be thriving. The hydrangeas are coming into flower

The birds enjoy foraging for tasty treats in the hebe bushes

Quite a few small flowers are making an appearance

These pictures are the before and after ~ the new shoots on the Red Robin shrub

The magnolia flowers are well gone but they were lovely while they lasted

And just for fun, this goldfinch was determined not to give up his perch at the top of the tree despite being buffeted by the wind.

#SundayStills ~ #Straight Lines Created by Man and #Nature #Bird #Ocean #Photography #Church #Scenery

Welcome to the Sunday Stills feature created and hosted by Terri Webster Schrandt

The theme for Sunday Stills this week is ‘straight’. The first thing that came to mind was the horizon and, although we know it’s not actually straight, it looks that way to us.

The angle of the sun is casting shadows in straight lines across this wooden walkway.

The Red Arrows display team are leaving perfectly straight smoke trails.

A suspended bridge looks fairly straight…until you walk on it! Especially if someone behind you starts making it sway!

The back of the bench provides a handy perch for a little dunnock.

#SundayStills ~ WaterWorld: The Beauty of Our Planet #Nature #Landscape #Scenery #Photography

Welcome to the Sunday Stills feature created and hosted by Terri Webster Schrandt

This week’s theme is WaterWorld, which I took literally and chose to show the beauty of water in our world. From the vast and mighty oceans…

to rivers winding their way through the countryside

to bodies of inland water, be they lakes or reservoirs

and waterfalls…

Waterfalls, river, lakes and ocean

And even a moat around a castle

#SundayStills ~ Celebrating the Joy of Pets #Animals #Pets #Dogs

Welcome to the Sunday Stills feature created and hosted by Terri Webster Schrandt You can find Terri’s post here.

I’m not sure if it’s National Pet Parents Day in Britain but we don’t need an excuse to celebrate pets. I was never allowed a dog growing up so the first thing I did when I married and had a house of my own was (you guessedit!) get a dog. I can’t find the one photo of my first German Shepherd but it was 1981 when we got her. When we lost her, I found Meg.

The worst thing about having animals is when you lose them and although you never forget them I don’t like being being without one.

Jenna came next. This was the day I took her home. Look at those little pink pads

She loved playing in the snow

Now we have Finn, a rescue Lurcher/Saluki. He’s quite young in these photos but has always been a real couch potato, he loves relaxing and sleeping, although he is getting on a bit now so we indulge him 😉

He doesn’t balance plant pots on his head any more either!

#SundayStills ~ What Lifts Your Spirits? #Nature #Photography #Forest #Gardens

Welcome to the Sunday Stills feature created and hosted by Terri Webster Schrandt

Terri has chosen ‘Lifted Spirits’ for this week’s theme. Being in nature is guaranteed to lift my spirits. These photos are from a visit to Bodnant Gardens, a National Trust property in North Wales, a couple of years ago.

Pathway with stream, trees and flowers
Old trees with exposed roots
Waterfall surrounded by greenery
Dappled sunshine through the trees

The next photos are from a trip to Newborough Forest. Lots of paths through the trees lead eventually to the sand dunes and onto a wide expanse of beach.
